The Duk Lost Boys Clinic

For years now I have followed the situation in Sudan. From the slave trade, to the health care crisis, to the Lost Boys surviving their unimaginable trek, to the ongoing genocide in Darfur, my spirit has been touched again and again by the horrors the people of Sudan endure on a daily basis.
I recently saw a clip from the new documentary “God Grew Tired of Us” in which one Sudanese man explained his feelings of abandonment – and my heart was broken. The man in the film could not explain why such things had happened to him and his people, other than to wonder if perhaps God had grown tired of them. I know this is not the case—but I also know that in this world, God needs human women and men to embody God’s love and to work for justice.
I believe in a God of compassion, a God whose love is steadfast and who does not grow tired. Please help me, and others working here to bring hope to Sudan, to see God’s love made manifest in the work of the Duk Lost Boys Clinic.
Here are a few specifics about this particular project…
While peace has arrived in southern Sudan, the collapse of the social infrastructure during the long civil war has left most of the region with virtually no health services.
John Dau, the Director of the Direct Change Sudan Project, is from Duk County and started this project with the American Care for Sudan Foundation.
Currently, there is no medical doctor for 75 miles. The clinic whose staff will include a full time doctor, will serve the people of Duk County and the surrounding areas.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters around the world, we have completed our fundraising for building the clinic in Duk Payuel Sudan. Now we need to hire medical staff and send supplies; will you please help us raise the money to make this possible? Thank you.
