I am a ture believer that we can change the world one family at a time, and the more people join the efffort the faster change can happen. So please join and do you part. Not everything has to be financial support but share your skills, knowledge and time with those in need. Description: During my visit to my home country, Ethiopia, this past January, I took these pictures of the family I working with. I left with the intention to work with an NGO to sponsor kid’s education but came back with a different feeling/idea. Even though I still have faith in NGO’s, in this case I felt I can make direct impact in the families lives than go through the process of working with an ‘NGO’s’ (I will explain why in the review section). I therefore decided to go visit families by simply going to their homes, speaking to them, spend time with them, asses their needs based on the conversations and visits and come up with ways to help them directly and immediately. I feel at the end of the day, all the matters is one person helping another in need and the world would be in a better position that it is now. The first family I visited was living in a very small and worn down one room ‘home’ – (4 kids). The roof leaks and the mud house was deteriorating. I therefore realized their immediate need is renovation on the house. I was able to purchase all items needed for renovation (wood, nails, etc..) as well as hire someone to renovate their home before I left Ethiopia from my 10 day trip. They now don’t have to worry about the liking roof as the rain season is around the corner (see pictures). Second Family I visited was in desperate need of money. They have not paid rent in 6 months and owe backed up rent money and they were about to get evicted – (3 kids). After speaking to them and spend a few days with them, I figured the best way to help them was to pay their backup rent as well as the next years rent so the mother can put her money towards something else. I am going in September again and hope to pay for all kids education fee for a year. Note: Anyone can do this as the renovation cost me less than a $100 US dollars and rent for a year and backed up rent was about $50 US dollars (i will get exact figures as i have receipts for everything). Therefore it didn’t cost me much but for the families the help goes a long way. Thanks for taking your time out and reading this and viewing the pictures. More stories and picture to come. http://www.change.org/my_change/photo_page?user_id=1183&album_id=528
