After traveling abroad I have come to realize how extremely fortunate we all are and started to look at different ways to give back. After researching many different charities, I found that not all the money you donate really goes to where you want it too.
So after alot of research, I found Direct Change. Its a non-for-profit that helps raise funds for local grassroot African projects that make a direct change.
Direct Change,non-profit corporation, was founded in 2006 to connect people who care about Africa with projects that are effective in helping Africa’s children. Direct Change’s projects in Africa are carried out by partner organizations that are either African-based groups with low overhead costs or American groups that spend 100% of funds received from Direct Change on their programs in Africa.
I decided to build a fund for two of the local projects; Building a health clinic in the Sudan, and Rebuilding Education in the Sudan. Read below for more information on both.
Please help to bring a little of what we take for granted everyday to a people that so desperately need it.
Thank you!

The Duk Lost Boys Clinic

Goal: $431,800 – 1st Year Medical Costs
After years of oppression and attacks by the Khartoum regime, the people of Duk Payuel Sudan still needed to walk 75 miles to see a doctor and children continued dying of curable diseases.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters around the world, a clinic was built and on April 30th a doctor arrived.
Now we need to hire additional medical staff and send supplies; will you please help us raise the money to make this possible?

Rebuilding Education in Sudan

After over two decades of a civil war that costs millions of lives, the southern Sudan is beginning to rebuild as thousands of refugees return to the region. The lack of schools and teachers in the region has kept an estimated 80% of school age children out of school. Direct Change is in the process of identifying partners to rebuild schools, train teachers and to assist in the redevelopment of the educational system throughout southern Sudan.
While most Direct Change projects focus on ongoing support, the situation in this region requires the creation of sustainable infrastructure.
