Darfur Fuel-Efficient Stoves

Helping the people of Darfur AND protecting the environment through reducing the amount of wood needed to cook by over 60%.
The shortage of wood in Darfur has become so severe that women have to spend their entire day searching for it. The risk to these women of rape and other forms of assault during wood collection has been well documented.
The use of wood as a fuel source has also had a devastating effect on the local environment, which has, in turn, contributed to the phenomenon of global warming.
This project run by the International Lifeline Fund, trains and supports women in Darfur in the construction of insulted rocket stoves.

The Duk Lost Boys Clinic

Goal: $493,000 – Clinic Construction and Six Months of Operation
While peace has arrived in southern Sudan, the collapse of the social infrastructure during the long civil war has left most of the region with virtually no health services.
John Dau, the Director of the Direct Change Sudan Project, is from Duk County and started this project with the American Care for Sudan Foundation.
Currently, there is no medical doctor for 75 miles. The clinic whose staff will include a full time doctor, will serve the people of Duk County and the surrounding areas.
While over $220,000 has already been raised to build this seven room-clinic, the lack of accessible roads and getting equipment to this remote area requires additional funds to complete the project.
