Victory Children - Benin

The family is the central unit of West African society. It is personal and financial security, and a social safety net. Quand la famille va, tout va, says a Beninese proverb. When the family’s gone, everything’s gone. Children who have lost their families through death, abandonment, or such diseases at HIV/AIDS, are at risk for child trafficking, will not attend school or learn a trade, may not even have enough to eat.
I am a Peace Corps volunteer in Benin, working with an organization called Victory Way. For three years they have been working for the rights and well-being of the children in the area. This project is for the support of more than 300 orphans in the Parakou area. Children stay with extended and foster families, while your donation assures that they can stay in school, receiving the academic and social support that will make the difference between a child who falls through the cracks and a child who becomes a healthy and productive member of society.
$120 = full support for 1 child for a year (food, clothing, academic support + tutoring)
